From the desk of the Battalion Chief

It's been awhile since my last communication. Now that summer is upon us, our thoughts are of vacation, family and yes how to get out of cleaning the garage.

Our Recreation room is almost completed, and we expect to be able to use it by the end of July or mid August at the latest. Our contractors are working well and the end result will be worth waiting for.

The Oak Valley Volunteer Fire Company #1 is always accepting applications for membership. . The membership specifics are listed in our web site, under the heading of “Volunteer”. You are always invited to stop by the Fire House on any Tuesday night and observe our training evolutions. You will also find a Duty Crew in the Fire House each Thursday night; we provide a duty engine company response for all Deptford Township.  

The last item is that our 2008 Fund Drive. Your generous donation provides the Fire Company members additional insurance coverage, the ability to provide our annual “Fire Prevention Expo” which is open to all residents; along with other activities. Our count to date is 383 donations and the amount donated is $8, 600.00. If you have not had the chance to donate, please do so. You can mail your donation to Oak Valley Volunteer Fire Company #1, PO Box 255, Wenonah, NJ 08090, or simple bring it by the fire house any Tuesday or Thursday night. We will be glad to show you around and answer any questions regarding your Fire Company.
